As a Community Primary School we are obliged to follow the County's recommendations regarding admissions, therefore any change to this policy requires a written request to the District Officer, Cheshire Education Committee, District Education Office, Chapel Lane, Wilmslow, SK9 1PU.

For all our Reception children we organise a programme of pre-school visits during the half term before their entry. They are also invited to special events in the school, and some have lunch on their last pre-school visit. The children enter school on a staggered basis which is determined by age and for our youngest children (i.e. those 5 between 1st March and 31st August) entry is part-time for the first half term. The school successfully provides an appropriate Foundation Stage Curriculum which enables a smooth transition into school and a sound educational base within a stimulating, activity based environment. All children are assessed through the National Foundation Stage Profile and teaching programmes are planned from the outcomes to enable individuals to be further developed.

All parents are encouraged to enrol their children before their third birthday and are most welcome to visit the school. Please arrange to do so by telephoning to make an appointment so that the Headteacher can be available to show you around the school.

An initial enrolment form is provided at the end of this prospectus which should be completed and returned to the school as soon as parents have decided that Dean Valley is their choice of school.

On receipt of these enrolment forms, the School compiles an admissions list for each entry date and in the Autumn term of the year before the one the child is due to begin school, the Headteacher will send out the standard Cheshire Application Form to the parents of all those children on the list. These should be returned in order to secure a place for the following September. Places are then allocated by the County following the County Admissions Procedure for Community Schools which can be found on the County Council’s Web Site. In the event of the School being oversubscribed, the priority order is as follows:-

• Bollington Post Codes with a sibling already attending the school.
• Nearest to the school with a Bollington post code..
• Nearest to the school.
